Lincoln has the classiest rain barrels around.
The Friends of Pioneers Park Natur Center and the Lincoln Watershed Management Division created the Artistic Rain Barrel Program to teach about the benefits of using barrels.
Twenty-five of the utilitarian, 55-gallon barrels have undergone artistic transformation. On Friday, they will be set out around town, where they'll stay until April 10; they will be auctioned off April 18. The proceeds will go to Friends of Pioneers Park Nature Center for scholarships to Adventure and Extreme Nature Camp.
